ATA - certificates, misc.

Good morning, the students rank certificates from June testing are available.  We will give them out on Saturday morning at class.  Also on Saturday, we will be celebrating Dr. Jeff Anderson's 50th birthday!

Classes Saturday:
9:30 am All Adults and Teens
10:30 am All Karate Kids 7-12 years
11:30 am All Tigers 3-6 year olds

T-shirts okay throughout July.  Starting in August, we will be wearing uniforms except for t-shirt days (in August, t-shirt days will be Thursday and Saturdays)

We are also happy to announce that our day class on Wednesdays is active again.  For the remainder of summer, this is an all age class at 11:30 am.  We will still have the 11:30 am class next week, even though it is camp.  The kids are eating lunch at that time, so the main floor will be available for the class with Dr. Anderson.

I want to thank everyone for their support since the new ATA Magazine has come out wherein I was featured in a full page article.  My recent addition and support on a national level of the new Legacy program is what prompted it.  Master Taekwon Lee and Chief Master M.K. Lee were instrumental in my having this honor.  Curious about Legacy, please see me.

If you are new to our school and did not receive the new ATA Magazine, let Sr. Master Black know, she has ordered some additional copies and we will save one for you.  Thanks.

Our Christmas in July sales are going to be ending soon.  15% off all in-stock and custom orders.

Lastly, we will have all regular evening classes next week while we are hosting our day Warrior Xtreme Leadership Camp during the day.

Sign up now for our in-school mini tournament on July 30.  Cost is $35 plus $10 ea for combat, traditional weapon or xma.  At the end of the event, we will be hosting a round robbin combat sparring event.  This event is also a fundraiser so we can host "actual Class C" events in our school wherein the leadership students can earn points toward State Champ.  Please support this event, next Class C event will be announced soon

Also, we still have room for our August "It's just taekwondo camp" the week of August 8.  This camo is from 10-2 pm, cost is $35 day per day.  If you register by July 31, you can attend for $99 for the week.  See Mrs. Ewing.

Hey Master Black ATA community,

We're excited to announce our new partnership with a company called Sweat Angels. Sweat Angels exists to help more people experience the joy of doing good. Through this partnership, we will be able to grow our community by doing good.

Starting today, every time you check-in on our Facebook page, Sweat Angels will donate to a great cause. Each month, they will provide a new charity for you to support by checking-in. To see who we're supporting this month, click here.

We need your help to be successful and make a difference! Here's what you can do:
Check-in on our Facebook page every time you enter the facility. If you don't know what a check-in is, here's an article from Sweat Angels that explains it all
Make sure you use the monthly hashtag in your check-ins. We will tell you what hashtag to use when it changes.
Add a photo to your check-in—perhaps a selfie.
Ask your friends to check-in, too.

We are thrilled to partner with Sweat Angels to help grow our community and make a difference just by checking-in on Facebook. We hope you are just as excited to work with us to do good.

For the hot month of July, we will be providing safe drinking water to people in need all over the world.

Every check-in at https://www.facebook.com/MasterBlackATA provides 50 gallons of drinking water through H2OpenDoors.

Fwd: Thank you!! Re: ATA Legacy Day for Region 109 on 4/9/16

Hello students, we have had a busy couple of months and now is the time for our students to showcase their talents.  Please finalize you registrations for testings by Saturday, April 16, please.  Belts, patches, headbands and more will be ordered on Friday morning.

Promotional testings are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19 and 20.

A few notes:

For testing, we will only be judging each student's rank form, all of the lower rank technique we have working on in class has already been shown to us.  What the judges and I would like to see next week is:

All colored belts, rank form (for the block we are on), i.e. orange, green or your own rank form if you are a blue belt or higher.

Black belts; your rank form, your BME form, if you have completed it (or 1/2)  Not 100% on the weapon, no problem, you will do the same drills as the colored  belts instead.  ALL BLACK BELTS may pre-practice their boards, however, all black belts will BREAK their boards on Tuesday Testing night.

We would also like to see the 9 angles of the Bahng Mahng Ee and an effort toward the 1-4 drill we have working in class with the weapon.  These items will be reviewed again tonight and tomorrow night.

Also, for any students that would like to try their board break prior to testing, we will practicing again tonight board breaking.

As a special help, we will allow all our purple-red belts to pre-break their boards on Monday night in class.  If the student is successful on first or second attempt, only, we will let that count for their testing score this time.  If not, they will try again on testing night.

AGENDA FOR NEXT SEVERAL DAYS:

Wednesday (tonight) regular class times;
Thursday (t-shirt day) regular class times
Saturday - regular class times
Monday - regular class times
Tuesday: WHITE-ORANGE plus BLACK BELT TESTING
Wednesday: Yellow-Brown Testing
for all the specific times of events and classes, visit http://atataekwondo.com/calendar/ (on this page are the links for both class times and event pdfs)

AWARDS CEREMONY AND POTLUCK - MONDAY, APRIL 25 (no classes, black belt demos)

Below is the email that was sent to the region's school owners a few days ago.  After our incredible Chief Master M.K. Lee event LEGACY TOUR 2016.

WARRIOR KRAV MAGA - reminder we will not have class the next two Mondays.  We will, however, have regular class on Wednesday night.  See
http://atataekwondo.com/calendar/ and go to event calendar.  If have missed trying this class, don't delay.  We have had regular attendance of 8-10 adults every Monday and Wednesday.  Check out the hottest new class.

Krav Maga may be joined separately for only $79 per month.  As a special incentive, for any new adult or parent (not current student) that joins and prepays their first two months of Warrior Krav Maga, your membership will include leather bag gloves.  Current students, you may join Krav Maga for only $25 if they do so during May or June.  Leather bag gloves can be separately purchased for $60.  All Rates will be adjusted beginning July.  Current adult instructor staff, see Sr. Master Black.

Next week we will be working with all students to earn their 3rd stripe on their belts.  Study your forms this weekend.  Go to https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2E539DA9ED9DF773 to find your video and go to http://atataekwondo.com/student-area/ and put in masterblackata (for the password) and find your pdf of your forms and more.

Questions, just reply to this email and I will respond to help you in your home practice.

To your success,
Sr. Master Black

ATA updates, tournament weekend

Hi students and families - as you all know we are closed this Saturday since many, many students are attending the spring tournament.  As previously announced in class, this is the last tournament until summer for our colored belts.  There is still time to be a part of this event!  Tonight deadline to register.  AGENDA FOR THIS WEEKEND'S TOURNAMENT CAN BE FOUND AT www.ataregion109.com.

Also, tonight, WEAR GREEN!  We'll have some green treats, fun and tournament rule review in each class.  Even if not competing, still extremely valuable to learn what you are missing!  Plus is St. Patty's day!

SUMMER CAMP UPDATES.  All equipment has been ordered of our summer camps.  July camp is SOLD OUT.  June camp still has (as of last night) 5 slots left.  When they are gone, they are gone.

Our new Warrior Krav Maga self-defense class has been a BIG hit.  We have approximately  11 new adult/teen attendees including Sr. Master Black's husband, Mr. Harold Black, who has attended every class!  We are looking to grow this class to a max of 20-25 attendees.  If you are interested in being a part of this growing group, see SM Black.  For our currently enrolled students, it is still free through end of April.  All non-students may try one class for free.  New members start with an initial $79 for one month of unlimited class (up to 8 classes) ($69 per month on a 6 month agreement thereafter - must purchase bag gloves, see Mrs. Ewing).  Current students that decide to keep up the great work will incur only a nominal increase in dues $25 per month to stay involved beginning in May.  LEGACY MEMBERS, please see SM Black for your rate.  These current rates will change on July 1.  Become involved now and keep it VERY affordable.  After July 1, separate Krav Memberships and add-ons will go up. (Sr. Master Black is considering attending the next level of Krav training in Jacksonville, FL to bring it into the school in May of 2016 to allow Krav students to rank through all the colored ranks).

SCHOOL CLOSURES:  Since we have several instructors attending the Spring Las Vegas National tournament, our school will be closed Wednesday thru Saturday, March 30-April 1.  For most of you that is Spring Break Week.  We will ONLY be open on Monday and Tuesday night.  Sr. Master Black will be available for private lessons (please make an appointment on Monday morning, March 28 from 10-12 noon.

For up-to-date info and fun, visit our school's website and Facebook pages.

www.atataekwondo.com and www.facebook.com/masterblackata (our FB page is public, so you do not need to be registered with Facebook to see photos and info posted there.)  Enjoy.
